Stranded II Mods TheSurvivalist:Christmas Update 12-24-19Also, how do you use a bucket, and how to you use a trap?
edited 1×, last 10.02.13 01:39:32 am
the bucket, u dont just "use" it... On lowering land, getting,
fertilizer, u just need to have it in your inventory. If you drop one on
the ground you can store water in there if it rain. And the trap you build it and open the trap by pressing "e" and sometime later when u see it closed u caught something...
Mine Patch 02_09_2013
http://www.mediafire.com/?clc7z1pqjtx8n7m
(tiny 47kb download, 2 copy/paste files)
If your not comfortable with patches you can re-download the full 02-09 update on page 1. The 02-09 update was also re-uploaded with the mine fix, as of this post.
The patch fixes the black ground, and when entering multiple times your rucksack weight remains stable as it should at 24,999 weight when in the mine.

FireFly,
The new birds do not spawn from any object, they spawn in a random radius around the island upon "changeday" in the game.inf file.
In the near future I plan to change all spawning animals, detaching them from any object. So, like the monkey will not need a banana tree to spawn, or, if you plant 10 banana trees you do not spawn a huge amount of monkeys. Resolves 2 current problems at once.

1) I think the auto-save should happen at 00:00, not upon sleeping.
2) Any way we can make pressing "M" to call up map on screen.
3) I think we should reduce survivor skill gain, at least 25 to 50%

Doesn't matter, I'll just dig it again...
Also, how do you water plants? I've tried throwing water bottles at them...

Aedolaws,
hmm, I'll have to look into the buttons thing, and I just re-tested how I had the progress bar upon sleeping. I have deleted that so you don,t have to wait for it after sleeping.
If i set the autosave to midnight, if your awake and doing something you will be "interrupted" with the autosave loading ...so I have it attached to when you sleep because your calling on it to happen. (sleep) So your not interrupted.

Andrew,
Hmm...your progress would be in the "saves" folder, so it should not have deleted it unless you downloaded the full update. Even then you would just copy your save from the old save folder into the new one.
Or did you mean you lost all your "mine" progress? That would be so probably...As the file over-writes the underground map...im sorry, but it is fixed :).
To water plants, put a bottle of water in your hand and "right-click" the mouse while pointing at the ground...the left will throw the bottle and break it, useful to put out fire if you happen to mishandle your handtorch.

The "water through"(not sure I spelled that correctly) has the wrong rotational axis when building. You can't rotate it from left to right, instead it tries to rotate it vertically, therefore locking itself in only one direction.
Also, what's it for?
It is built to catch rain water for drinking or filling bottles, making bendable branches...etc.
When it rains it fills with water. Having one near crops you can just take the water from it to water the plants.
later, I may make it water crops automatically if you build it "in" or "next-to" crop fields, but it will water a larger area then when you throw a bottle down. I want to make it so if you build them end-to-end, you can pour a bottle water in the first one it is carried down to the others if they are lined up end-to-end. Any crops along the path will be watered.

Aedolaws,
In the "options" you can now set a key to show the Map when pressed just as you can set all other keys to the key of your choice.
If you have made a map you will see it when the key you set is pressed...however, if you did not make a map from starch, bark & stone you will only get a message saying so.
You can "set" any key of choice under options/ Controls (1) and Controls (2)...the Map will be set under (2).
(this will be in the next update from my todo list on page 1)

When clicking the Dwarf Trees button the menu will change to this one below, offering the smaller trees for planting.
Palms will be added now that I got this working model...
All the ferns and bushes will be set up the same when planting the leaf. A menu for Ferns, and then a menu for Bushes.
Other stuff will remain the same, plant a berry for a berry bush or banana for banana palm etc...this is just for the random plantings of the branch and leaf (Palm too if I can come up with something as a seed. Probably the leaf also as we get leaves from palms too.)

JJ, I added the code for the map, it works like a charm. Good job. Thank you!
1) I think the next logical step is coding for a button that allows quick recording of the resource. For example, press "N" = if Map + Charcoal in runsack = basic notation describing closest resource, i.e., iron, bamboo, etc. AND the next logic step would be adding small graphics to the map to clearly mark each of these resources. But this is a luxury down the road.
2) By the way, I noticed A LOT of bamboo in my latest island. Different kinds, granted, great, but still, too much. We should reduce availability. Also, can we split bamboo families and make it Sugar Cane and Bamboo? Perhaps changing the sugar cane one to more yellowish color, and producing more sugar than mere bamboo. Or maybe even eliminating sugar production from pure bamboo.
3) When combining 10 water bottles + resource, i.e. with flour, etc, I loose the 10 bottles, I think I only get 1 back. Please tweak so that we can get all 10 bottles back.
4) I have had troubles with the water-through as well, very restricted to turn around, not sure whether it is a matter of inclination, although I am sure I have tried at different locations without luck, I usually work around this and I do not think it is a big deal, but if easily fixed, you should look into it.
*** Also, wells should be brought back to hard mode, just make them extremely expensive and requiring lots of maintenance.
5) The iron hammer should be able to accomplish the same as the stone hammer, only more efficiently and less risky. Right now, it does not. For example, the stone hammer should break "way" more often (same with carving knife) and I can't use iron hammer to combine forged items.
6) I "think" (my friend Jack Daniels keeps distracting me) that I keep loosing my empty bucket if I drop it somewhere. I have decided to keep it with me and it has worked so far. But can you please look into that?
7) I managed to fully test the new composting + farming system. You are AWESOME. Very well done. Allow me, though, to suggest that they should require water at least once. And, again, we should try to make the whole farming process more "real" by requiring more days... etc.
8 ) The forge should consume more charcoal, or fire, distiller, etc, should produce less. Or even better: both, take a more balanced approach.
9) Dry cocoa to chocolate should require water. And chocolate cookie should reflect the -1 fatigue. (I see the chocolate cookies as energy bars, I would even give them more of a punch (while reducing the coffee's punch). Or, in the alternative, just add energy bars, with dough + fruits (esp. coffee) + healing herbs. But the cookies can do for now).
10) The new planting system sounds GREAT!
BTW, the mermaid still refuses to follow my orders, that B&^%$, I am gonna get her!

Edit: I'll also take a look at the iron hammer. But the well problem, I can't do that one, don't even know where to start with that one...

Sounds good andrew...check out the main Stranded 2 website and you will find all the commands and info to script there in the left menu.

Hi Adolaws...i have noted everything above and things sound good. I will be working on some of that by the weekend i hope.
and as for the empty bucket I did find a small bug I have to fix. If you drop 1 empty bucket "next" to another empty bucket and they "merge" into 1 stack, then you suddenly only have 1 bucket. For now set them farther apart so they dont "merge" into 1 stack and they all remain in existence.
dunno why it does that yet, but I'll fix it asap.

3) fixed
4) i just do not see the problem with the trough, will look again.
5) This is true, WILL make them atleast equal, and make hammer/knife break occasionally.
6) fixed
7) ty, will likely raise the maturity days up soon as I play it for a bit to confirm.
8)I actually did this already once, but yes we need it more so balanced. Will do.

hmm, interesting idea...will consider after I look into what it would take to script, shoudlnt be a problem.

in the next update you would include the breeding and taming system and
the achievements I told you earlier. That would be great!
Yes I have not forgotten them ideas. I have your zips saved on my HD and I just need to dig into them again. I will also have your couple new potions you sent me for the pirate added ,as i missed that this last round.
Taming the animals and breeding needs to be well planned yet basic to script, im just having trouble finding the balance. Plus i want to "detach" spawning from objects. So gimme some more time bro, I will get to it asap.
The achievements i have ready, I just have to go through every single file and remove the existing script for the current achievements...thats just tedious work i keep putting off!
To All,
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR FEEDBACK AND INPUT! I can't stress that enough. I get alot more done with the bugs and missed stuff and the great ideas when you all post them here. It also keeps me interested in working on the game knowing you guys like to play too as well as myself!

2) Surely, a system calling for/requiring satisfaction of specific food/drink cravings would make things more interesting. I have tried all recipes so far. But there is really little incentive for those. And it is not clear whether they are worth the trouble! But, I think they are! If we could somehow satisfy the cravings, that may make it more interesting.
Question: how does the monkey school works? I have gotten it before, I just forgot!
3) I will next try to go for leaving the island. That is the pirate phone right? Let see how long it takes!
